Russian Cargo Spacecraft Set to Swan Dive into the Pacific ? This happens all the time, please be SELECTIVE on space stories or any off topic [Space]

Progress 46, a Russian cargo spacecraft carrying about a ton of space waste, is schedule to splash down into the Pacific ocean today, at approximately 6:45pm Moscow time. The spacecraft's specifically targeted "burial site" is in a remote region of the water, far from any shipping routes, though by the time it's splashed down into the blue the dense layers of the Earth's atmosphere will have burned the Progress into a not-too-threatening debris. Which 'Twilight' Scenes Could Use A Revamp?

As Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart go back for re-shoots, MTV News asks fans what scenes need a makeover.
By Kara Warner

In light of the news that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are headed back to the "Breaking Dawn -- Part 2" set for a few re-shoots, this week's Twilight Tuesday posed the question: If you could have any scene in any of the previous films re-shot, which one would you revamp? (Pun intended!)

As always, the members of the knowledgeable and passionate "Twilight" fan community responded to the query with gusto. Some folks want to see extended versions of their favorite scenes, some are still displeased with the book-to-film adaptation in certain areas and some requested they re-shoot entire films altogether. But there are two scenes that a majority of fans agreed could use a makeover: the meadow scene in "Twilight" and Edward and Bella's reunion in "New Moon." Here's a sampling of our favorite responses and suggestions:

@Cycyn: The meadow scene. It was THE ONE scene they had to capture perfectly (it was Steph's dream) and it's really bad.

@Cordyq45: Eclipse- Bella getting on Jake's bike in the school parking lot. Never shoulda happened.

@dazzle715: The scene where Bella kisses Jacob in Eclipse, instead she would just push him off the mountain.

@pinkpixiechick: Edward and Bella's reunion in New Moon. Wish it was more like the book version. Too short and passively handled in the film. I'm not a fan of how Melissa Rosenberg writes Edward & Bella scenes. Their reunion in her bedroom (New Moon) felt very rushed.

@MeganC79: The meadow scene by far. It's the most important scene in Twilight and was completely botched in the movie. Huge disappointment.

@Brendaof6: The Twilight scene when the "bad" vamps crash the game and Cullens get defensive. Liked at first but now I giggle every time!

@Melly1901: Twilight's meadow scene. Wasn't how I imagined it. I wish they added the Twi lunch scenes between Ed/Bella too...

@KansasCityGypsy: "I know what you are." "Say it." "Vampire." Such bad acting.

@Mama_Cougar: Good LORD that heinous "Wolves at the lumbermill" scene from Breaking Dawn. The Eclipse Forest Frolic is a close second.

@robownsme: Bella's speech at the end of Eclipse and her riding away with Jacob on the motorcyle. Both scenes were ridiculous and horrible.

@maineemilyhoon: New Moon - the post-Italy scenes. In the book it's so swoonily romantic...in the movie it's just dull.

What other scenes could use a re-vamp? Tell us in the comments or hit me up @karawarner on Twitter

Parasite arms race spurs color change in bird eggs

The eggs laid by two African bird species have evolved different color patterns over a period of just 40 years, according to new research published in The American Naturalist. The quick change appears to be driven by an unwanted guest in the nest.

Cuckoo finches are brood parasites. They lay their eggs in the nests of other bird species, hoping to trick someone else into raising their young. To help keep their imposter eggs from being evicted, the cuckoo eggs have evolved to look a lot like those of its most common target, the tawny-flanked prinia. But prinias have evolved a defense. Their eggs have complex patterns of spots and squiggles and can vary substantially in color from female to female. The variable colors and patterns mean the cuckoo eggs aren't always a good match, and prinias can often spot them and toss them out of the nest.

University of Cambridge researchers Claire Spottiswoode and Martin Stevens show that the cuckoo's mimicryand the prinia's defenses against ithave caused the appearance of both species' eggs to change over time.

In the course of their research in Zambia, Spottiswoode and Stevens noticed that cuckoo and prinia eggs they were seeing in the wild differed markedly from those in a museum collection made at their study site. "For example, 30 years ago, cuckoo finches predominantly laid eggs that look red to our eyes, but now lay mainly blue ones," Stevens said. "Prinias in turn now more commonly lay olive-colored eggs, perhaps to escape their pursuing parasite."

To test these observations, the researchers used computer models that quantified changes on spot pattern and color in past and present eggs. Their models were calibrated to view the eggs through a bird's eyes, which are better than ours at seeing colors and distinguishing ultraviolet light.

The models confirmed the observation. The eggs are changing colors, and fast. The changes detected in this study happened over the course of just 40 years, a period "that is a mere blink of an evolutionary eye," Stevens said.

The research offers a prime example of an evolutionary arms race between parasite and host, the researchers say. The dominant color pattern of prinia eggs serves as a good defense only until the cuckoos catch up. At that point, natural selection should begin favor prinias that lay eggs with new colors, which make the cuckoo eggs stand out. In effect, the two species appear to be locked in a perpetual race around the color specrum.

"Just as humans need to invent new drugs to defeat evolving bacteria and viruses, so host defenses undergo rapid changes to evade cuckoos," Spottiswoode said.

What?s In A Name? Australia Wants Apple To ?Change The Name? Of The iPad Over 4G Incompatibility

ipad australia 4gLooks like we may see another development today in Apple's ongoing iPad/4G controversy in Australia. The country's Competition and Consumer Commission is meeting with Apple in court again today to try to get Apple to officially change the name of the device when it is sold in Australia. Although many people know it as "the new iPad" since launching the product in March, Apple has also been marketing the product as the new iPad with 'Wi-Fi +4G' in the country. But Apple quickly ran into trouble when the ACCC said Apple was misleading consumers: in fact, the tablet is not actually compatible with Australia's 4G network. Since then, Apple has agreed to refund consumers who bought the device thinking they were getting 4G; and the company has also been putting up notices wherever the iPad is sold warning them that it didn't work with Australia's 4G. But the ACCC, it seems, does not think that this goes far enough.

Technip in Wheatstone LNG Win (Australia)>> LNG World News

Technip in Wheatstone LNG Win

Technip said it has been awarded a subsea contract by Chevron Australia Pty Ltd for the Wheatstone Project, one of Australia?s largest resource projects.

The contract, valued at approximately EUR245 million, covers the development of the Wheatstone and Iago fields, located in the Carnarvon Basin, offshore North Western Australia.

This contract includes:

? project management, design, fabrication and installation of subsea isolation valve, production tee protection structures, spools and jumpers,

? transport and installation of manifold, foundation structures and pipeline termination structures,

? supply and installation of 41 kilometres of umbilicals.

Technip?s operating center in Perth, Australia will manage the overall project, with engineering to commence immediately. Vessels from the Technip fleet will be used for the offshore campaign, including the Deep Orient and Global 1201, with completion scheduled in 2015.

The contract is expected to create a significant number of West Australian jobs, including in the Pilbara region.

The Chevron-operated Wheatstone Project is located at Ashburton North, 12 kilometres west of Onslow in Western Australia. It is a joint venture between the Australian subsidiaries of Chevron, Apache, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, Shell and Kyushu Electric Power Company. The initial phase of the project will consist of two liquefied natural gas trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 million tonne per annum and a domestic gas plant.

Hallvard Hasselknippe, Chief Operating Officer, Technip Subsea Division, Asia Pacific stated: ?This contract award represents a significant milestone for Technip in the Asia Pacific region. It confirms the effectiveness of our strategy to build conceptual, engineering, manufacturing and installation resources dedicated to our clients? subsea projects in the region. This is the largest EPCI contract to date for Technip in the area, and includes a first win for our newbuild construction/flex pipe lay vessel Deep Orient, working together with the newly acquired G1201. The scope of the project illustrates perfectly the expected synergies from the recent acquisition of Global Industries, whose teams bring complementary subsea know-how, assets and experience, including in Asia Pacific.?

Frans Roozendal, Managing Director of Technip in Oceania said: ?This is an exciting project for Technip with the majority of work undertaken from our Perth office. Technip looks forward to strengthening an existing relationship with Chevron, a key customer here in Australia.?
